Thanksgiving weekend in New Jersey usually means a full house: relatives in from out of state, college kids home for the break, and at least one night where everyone is tired of leftovers. A New Jersey Thanksgiving hibachi dinner at home is a simple way to host that crowd. A private chef brings the hibachi grill, the food, and the teppanyaki show to your house, so the host gets to sit at the table instead of standing at the stove.
This guide is for New Jersey hosts planning a get-together during Thanksgiving week or the long weekend after it—a Friday-night family reunion, a Saturday dinner with cousins, a Friendsgiving, or a late-November birthday. It covers why hibachi fits the holiday, what your indoor and outdoor options are in New Jersey, how the menu and pricing work, and how to book with Hibachi 2Home.
Why hibachi works for the Thanksgiving long weekend
After a big Thursday dinner, most families want the next gathering to be easier, not bigger. Hibachi at home takes the cooking, the timing, and most of the cleanup off the host’s list. Every guest picks their own proteins, the chef cooks everything fresh in front of the group, and the grill doubles as the evening’s entertainment—useful when you have grandparents, teenagers, and little kids at the same table.
It is also a different meal from the turkey and casseroles everyone just ate. Steak, shrimp, chicken, salmon, scallops, fried rice, and grilled vegetables feel like a night out, without anyone having to drive to a restaurant on one of the busiest weekends of the year.
Indoor or outdoor? Your options in New Jersey
Late November evenings in New Jersey are cold, so think about the space before you book. According to our FAQ, Hibachi 2Home cooks outdoors and indoors, including balconies, terraces, and areas under awnings. You can also set your party up inside while the chef cooks outside.
New Jersey is one of the states where Hibachi 2Home lists indoor hibachi service (along with New York, Georgia, and Connecticut). If you want the chef cooking inside, our FAQ asks that the service area be close to a window or door and that there are no sprinklers in the service area. Read the full indoor notes on the FAQ page and tell customer support when you book that you are planning an indoor setup, so the details can be confirmed for your home.
Not sure indoors is right for your house? A covered patio, a balcony, or a terrace or awning area right outside the dining room are common choices: the chef cooks just outside, and guests stay warm a few steps away. Our backyard hibachi rain plan tips also apply to cold or windy nights.
What the host provides
The chef brings the grill, the food, the sake, and the show. You provide the setup around it:
- Tables and chairs for every guest (we do not set up tables and chairs)
- Plates and eating utensils
- A space for the grill near your guests, indoors or outdoors as discussed above
For layout ideas, see our hibachi at home table setup guide, and for help counting guests, read how guest count works for smaller hibachi parties.

The menu
Each guest gets a side salad, hibachi vegetables, fried rice, and two choices of protein. Protein choices are chicken, steak, shrimp, scallops, salmon, or vegetarian, with filet mignon (+$5) and lobster tail (+$10) as upgrades and noodles available for +$4. Extra protein side orders can be added, and you can ask us about fresh sushi platters.
Holiday groups often include guests with dietary needs, and the menu handles that well:
- Our food does not contain any nuts or sesame products. Let the booking agent know about any other food allergies.
- For gluten-free guests, the chef brings gluten-free soy sauce and gluten-free teriyaki sauce.
- Vegetarian and vegan guests can have tofu, and the price per person does not change. Their plates are supplemented with extra vegetables, salad, and fried rice.
More detail is in our post on hibachi at home allergy questions.

Timing on the day
The chef arrives at your reservation time, and setup only takes a few minutes. The hibachi show itself lasts 30 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes, so it fits easily into an evening before dessert and family photos. If you want the meal to line up with relatives arriving from the airport or the turnpike, pick a start time with a little cushion.
Book early for Thanksgiving week
The weekend around Thanksgiving is a popular time to host, so it is smart to request your date as soon as your plans are set rather than waiting until the week of. Availability is confirmed when you book—submitting a request early simply gives you more options.
All bookings are done through our website. When you are ready, go to Book Now and include your guest count, the date and time you want, your town, whether you want an indoor or outdoor setup, and any allergies. Questions? Visit our Contact page or call or text 718-878-0883.
